Meet the Team
Paul Dobie
Creative Director
Paul is, in his own words, a massive nerd. His huge cosplay collection makes up the vast majority of our character roster and he is a very experienced party host and character actor.
In previous roles he has been in charge of designing, organising, and performing in themed events such as a 50th Anniversary Scooby-Doo Event in 2019. This is Paul’s main passion therefore he will lead the charge on designing children’s events and managing the party host team.
Paul has a HNC in Childhood Practice, has many years of Soft Play experience, Nursery experience and working with children with Additional Support Needs.
Paul has studied Drama and Performance, performed for years as an actor, stand up comedian and sketch comedy performer and has performed several times in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival!
Fun Fact: Paul’s favourite Avenger is Hawkeye so if you ask Hawkeye to be at your party he’ll be your new best friend!
Joseph Travers
Creative Director
Joseph is an all around helpful clown. He has considerable personal and broad knowledge of the performing arts and social care sectors in Scotland from working with various productions and workshops.
Joseph has been a recipient of several performing and social innovation arts awards. He is a graduate from De Montfort University with a Degree in youth and community development and continues to support a wide range of ages and abilities in Edinburgh and Internationally, most notably with the real life Patch Adams, in Ecuador and West Virginia, encouraging an interest in Clown and care and/or Humanitarian clowning.
Joe has also performed an autobiographical one man play about his life called “Not Ready Yet” in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Joseph very much looks forward to getting to play with you.
Elizabeth Dooley
Party Host / Writer
Liz is not necessarily an actor by profession, but she’s had more than her fair share of practice at it on the road to her Masters of Science in Playwriting.
She also has an accumulative eight years of teaching experience, focusing on early childhood education and education for children with Additional Support Needs. At one point, early in her career, a puppet was involved. Long story. But that particular skill has lead her to lend her hand in props construction for Patchwork Bear, as well!
Liz originally comes from Philadelphia—which means she’s not even faking the accent! (The hair, on the other hand, is probably not real.)
Chris Cowan
Party Host
Chris Cowan has been cosplaying for a number of years as different characters and as well as working with adults with additional needs during the week.
He has been performing as Edinburgh's Bat Hero for nearly a decade so can regularly be seen driving his own Batmobile in and around Edinburgh!
He has been an actor for years for different organisations including Lung Ha's theatre company, Edinburgh Grads and Leitheatre.
Emma Stark
Party Host
Emma has worked in Television production for ten years and has numerous credits to her name.
Appropriately Emma is also an incessant cosplayer. One of her most notable cosplays is Daphne Blake, who she appeared as alongside Paul in a viral TikTok that has garnered over 8 Million Views and 1 Million Likes on the Scottish Scooby Gang account. Emma has also appeared as Daphne as a guest at Capital Sci-Fi Con to raise money for CHAS.
She is also a member of the Glasgow Vikings in which she trains in combat and historical reenactment.
Connor Byrn
Party and Quiz Host
Connor is a jack of all trades performer who’s been cosplaying a long time, meeting many celebrities over the years as well as using his many outfits to help fundraise for CHAS.
That is, when he’s not busy doing gymnastics, theatre, swordsmanship and many martial arts disciplines of which he is a Second Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo.
Safe to say when he puts his mind to it, Connor will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.
You may know him as Paul’s chaotic co-host on many of our cosplay themed quizzes on TikTok live, check out the Scottish Scooby Gang to see more of Connor!
